Reader Question:

Don't Include Supply Billing with Rapid Rhino

Question: A patient came in to the clinic to have a rapid rhino placed? What’s the CPT® code for the placement of the device and how do we go about billing for the supply?

North Dakota Subscriber

Answer: A Rapid Rhino, otherwise known as a nasal tampon, is a device a provider will plug into the nose of the patient to control and stop epistaxis. You may report this service under code 30901 (Control nasal hemorrhage, anterior, simple (limited cautery and/or packing) any method). All supplies and services are included in the 30901, so you may not bill separately for the Rapid Rhino product.
