Question: Encounter notes indicate that the surgeon treated a patient with 鈥渟ynovitis, toxic/wrist.鈥� I cannot find an ICD-10 code to match this condition. Can you help? Texas Subscriber Answer: You鈥檙e not going to find toxic synovitis in any of the descriptors for the code you鈥檒l use. That鈥檚 because toxic synovitis is listed as an alternate term for the code set where you鈥檒l find your diagnosis: M67.3- (Transient synovitis). Do this: Go back and check the notes to see if the surgeon indicated the laterality of the synovitis. Then, choose from the following ICD-10 codes: Chris Boucher, MS, CPC, Senior Development Editor, AAPC
